In a significant development, Amazon Managed Blockchain (AMB) Access has introduced support for the Polygon proof-of-stake (PoS) mainnet and the Mumbai testnet, now in public preview. This move marks a notable collaboration between Amazon Web Services (AWS) and Polygon, enhancing the capabilities of Web3 applications.
Polygon, renowned for leveraging the Ethereum Virtual Machine (EVM) to provide scalable solutions with higher transaction throughput and lower fees, finds its place within the fully managed service of AMB. This integration caters to developers, offering them a reliable, scalable, and cost-efficient pathway to construct Web3 applications on the Polygon blockchain.
During the public preview, AMB Access Polygon ensures free access to Polygon PoS, eliminating minimum costs. However, users are subject to standard AWS data transfer charges. The service provides serverless and instantaneous access to Polygon PoS, accommodating various application needs—from those requiring repeated and highly-available access to those with intermittent and unpredictable access.
The advantages extend across diverse sectors. Consumer brands can utilize AMB Access Polygon to offer Non-Fungible Tokens (NFTs) through loyalty programs, enhancing customer engagement. Financial institutions benefit from the power of digital asset offerings, leveraging the JSON-RPC application programming interface (API) for reading blockchain data and broadcasting signed transactions.
Developers, in particular, gain access to Polygon JSON-RPC APIs through always-on endpoints with predictable pay-as-you-go pricing. This facilitates the creation of applications that seamlessly interact with Polygon PoS, especially for Web3 game developers crafting in-game NFTs for player engagement and marketplace exchange.
Polygon emphasizes that AMB Access Polygon fosters the development of production-grade applications, accelerating time to market and ensuring automatic scaling. The pay-per-request pricing model is positioned as a cost-effective alternative, potentially saving developers up to 80% in blockchain node spending compared to self-managed infrastructure.
The integration of AWS support for Polygon PoS through AMB Access not only strengthens the collaboration between the two entities but also streamlines the development of scalable applications. AWS continues to expand its enterprise-ready Web3 infrastructure and developer-friendly tools, aligning with the growing demand for secure access to applications for both Web3 natives and mainstream consumers.
Several projects across diverse industries have already embraced AMB Access Polygon, including Magic, a wallet-as-a-service provider; Mystic Moose, an indie game developer studio; RecoChoku, a music distribution-focused company; and Oasis Pro, a global fintech infrastructure provider for real-world assets and digital securities.
This integration builds upon a strategic collaboration announced in mid-November involving AWS, Polygon Labs, and Animoca Brands, aiming to support Web3 builders globally through the MoonRealm Express Accelerator. The goal of this initiative is to help aspiring builders turn concepts into real-world solutions, and now, with the addition of AMB Access Polygon, it takes another step toward fostering innovation in the Web3 space.
