Champions Ascension teams up with Amazon Prime to offer exclusive in-game rewards

Champions Ascension, an action-packed combat-oriented role-playing game, has entered into a partnership with Amazon Prime, offering exclusive in-game rewards for its subscribers. Commencing on Friday, Amazon Prime Gaming members can claim 100 in-game gold and a loot box containing monster parts, which are essential for crafting monsters in the upcoming Maestro Towers mode.

While Champions Ascension revolves around non-fungible tokens (NFTs) and features characters initially minted on Ethereum but later migrated to the Polygon scaling network, the items available through the Amazon Prime giveaway are not tokenized NFTs. These items are purely digital in-game assets that cannot be traded.

In alignment with other Web3 games like Gods Unchained and NFL Rivals, Champions Ascension is leveraging Amazon Prime Gaming to provide exclusive in-game items. These items will be available biweekly as part of a 12-week promotion, including additional resources like essence, bone, and more monster part boxes.

Amazon Prime subscribers already benefit from a diverse range of free in-game content, not only for NFT games such as Mojo Melee, Brawlers, and others but also for popular “Web2” games like League of Legends, Roblox, Madden NFL 24, and Cyberpunk 2077.

Champions Ascension is currently undergoing an early access alpha playtest phase in preparation for its broader release on Windows PC. Despite plans to launch on the Steam platform, the game will not integrate NFT functionality due to Steam’s restrictions on blockchain features.

By collaborating with Amazon Prime, Champions Ascension expands its audience reach and provides exclusive rewards to a wider player base. This partnership underscores the increasing integration of blockchain-based games into mainstream platforms, highlighting the growing acknowledgment of NFTs as a valuable element of the gaming experience.

However, the collaboration occurs against the backdrop of a challenging environment for Web3 games. According to a CoinGecko report analyzing 2,817 games launched between 2018 and 2023, three out of four Web3 games have ceased operations. The alarming annual failure rate of 80.8% raises questions about the sustainability of the GameFi industry, despite the initial enthusiasm and significant investments in the crypto space.
