Google Cloud introduces free courses enabling users to develop their own GPT-style AI

Google Cloud has introduced a series of free online courses aimed at educating individuals on the fundamentals of generative artificial intelligence (AI) systems and providing an introduction to the Generative AI Studio development environment. These courses are designed to meet the growing demand for knowledge and skills in the field of generative AI, which has gained significant traction since the release of OpenAI’s ChatGPT system in November 2022. Tech giants like Microsoft, Google, Amazon, and Baidu have capitalized on the popularity of large language models and image generators.

The new Google Cloud curriculum consists of nine distinct modules covering various topics, including introductory courses on generative AI, large language models, responsible AI, image generation, and Generative AI Studio. Students will also explore advanced concepts such as encoder-decoder architecture, attention mechanisms, transformer and BERT models, and the creation of image captioning models. The curriculum culminates in a “quest” that includes labs and timed assignments. Upon completion, students will be awarded a Generative AI Explorer-Vertex AI badge.

Google Cloud aims to equip learners with a solid understanding of generative AI, enabling them to create, train, and deploy their own foundational models. The curriculum is described as a curated collection of content on Generative AI products and technologies, covering everything from the basics of large language models to practical implementation on the Google Cloud platform.

Generative AI models have found applications in various industries, particularly in the cryptocurrency and blockchain sectors. While these models are commonly used as trading bots and data management assistants, they also serve as educational tools. Researchers from the Blockchain Research Lab in Hamburg, Germany, believe that the widespread availability of ChatGPT and similar AI systems has contributed to the increased adoption of cryptocurrencies worldwide. These models have proven effective in simplifying complex concepts and making them accessible to the general public.
