Dogecoin vs Shiba Inu: Which Meme Coin Has More Upside Soon?
Dogecoin vs Shiba Inu: Key Differences Every Investor Should Know
Dogecoin vs Shiba Inu is the oldest fight in meme coin trading. Both have a dog on the logo. Both can jump 20% on one tweet. But in November 2026, they are not in the same shape.
Both Meme coins fell hard in October. DOGE lost about 20%, and SHIB lost 18.6%. So which one has more room to run from here? Let’s check the facts.
What Is Dogecoin?
Billy Markus and Jackson Palmer launched Dogecoin in December 2013 as a joke. It used the famous Shiba Inu dog meme. People laughed, then started tipping each other with it, and the joke turned into real money.
It runs on its own blockchain, secured by miners through proof of work. Today DOGE trades near 8 cents with a market cap of about $13.1 billion. That makes it the biggest meme coin by a wide margin.
What Is Shiba Inu?
An unknown developer called Ryoshi launched Shiba Inu in August 2020. It is a token on Ethereum, so it has no base blockchain of its own. It was sold as a “Dogecoin killer” from day one.
The supply began at one quadrillion tokens. Vitalik Buterin received half, burned most of it, and gave a part to India’s COVID relief fund in 2021. About 589 trillion SHIB circulate now. The price is near $0.0000047, and the market cap is close to $2.77 billion.
Dogecoin vs Shiba Inu: Key Differences at a Glance
It is older, bigger, and easier to trade. SHIB is smaller and more fragile.

Which Meme Coin Has Stronger Tokenomics?
Neither coin has perfect tokenomics. They fail in different ways.
Dogecoin pays miners 10,000 DOGE per block. That adds roughly 5.26 billion coins a year, or about 3.5% of today’s supply. The rate is fixed, everyone can see it, and the percentage shrinks every year.
Shiba Inu has a giant supply and tiny burns. On November 4, only about 44 million were burned, worth around $200. Against 589 trillion coins, that barely moves anything.
Here is a number that helps. For SHIB to reach $0.01, its crypto market cap would need to hit about $5.9 trillion. Dogecoin at $1 needs about $152 billion, roughly 11 times today’s value.
Dogecoin Price: How High Can DOGE Go?
In late November 2025, DOGE held $0.15 as support. Now it trades near half of that. In July 2026, it also lost a trendline that had held for almost two years.
It needs a close above its 20-day average near $0.078 to look healthier. After that, many traders watch $0.10, then the $0.14 area. A return to $0.15 would mean nearly doubling. On the downside, $0.07 stays in play.
Shiba Inu Price: Can SHIB Deliver Bigger Gains?
On paper, yes. SHIB is smaller, so the same money moves it more. If SHIB matched Dogecoin’s market cap today, one coin would be worth about $0.0000222, roughly 4.7 times the current price.
But the chart is weak. On November 5, SHIB touched $0.00000437, its lowest since August 19. Buyers defended $0.00000448 twice in ten days. Above it, the first walls sit at $0.00000488 and $0.00000509. The September 22 high of $0.00000625 is about 25% above today.
History is not friendly either. SHIB fell in three of the last five Novembers, with a median November return of -8.26%. Daily trading is only $34 million to $53 million, so sellers can push it around.
Dogecoin vs Shiba Inu: Which Has Better Utility?
Dogecoin wins today. It works as a simple payment coin with low fees, and most people already know it. Elon Musk has also backed it many times.
Shiba Inu is trying to build an ecosystem. Its layer 2 blockchain network, Shibarium, uses BONE for fees. The idea is good, but the use is small. The network handles about 1,680 transactions a day, and a developer said in October that he pays to run it himself.
So the future depends on one question. Will Shibarium ever get real users? If yes, It gets a reason to exist beyond the meme. If not, it stays a hype coin.
Which Meme Coin Has More Upside in 2026?
Think of it as two different bets. SHIB has the higher price potential in percent. A 4.7x move to match size is easier to picture than DOGE jumping 11x to $1.
But easier to picture is not more likely. It has weaker volume, a bearish chart, and tiny burns. It has a stronger base but is recovering slowly.
Only about eight weeks of 2026 are left. A realistic win is a bounce toward $0.10 for DOGE or $0.00000514 for SHIB. Anything bigger needs the whole market to push.
What Could Trigger the Next Rally?
Bitcoin is the main driver. SHIB has moved with it, and the SHIB-to-Bitcoin ratio stayed near 0.006 satoshi for ten days. When Bitcoin wakes up, meme coins usually follow.
Dates matter too. The US jobs report lands on November 6, consumer prices on November 10, Fed meeting minutes on November 18, and the PCE inflation reading on November 25. Good news can lift risk assets. Bad news can cut them fast.
Dogecoin vs Shiba Inu: Which Meme Coin Is Better to Buy?
Dogecoin or Shiba Inu: Which crypto project is better depends on you. If you want a bigger, more liquid coin, DOGE fits. If you accept higher risk for a faster bounce, SHIB fits.
For any investment, keep three rules. Never use money you cannot afford to lose. Split your buys over weeks, not one day. Check the live price before you act.
