New Digital Credit System Tested with Franklin Templeton, Zodia Custody, Avalanche, and CMS
A Big Move for Digital Finance at Abu Dhabi Finance Week 2025
SemiLiquid, a company that works with digital money, introduced its new system called Programmable Credit Protocol (PCP) at the Abu Dhabi Finance Week 2025. This system helps big companies use digital money (called tokenized assets) to get loans without moving anything around. It’s a big step for digital finance. The system was created in Abu Dhabi and will soon be used around the world, making the city an important place for digital money and new financial ideas.
The new system was tested with companies like Franklin Templeton, Zodia Custody, Avalanche, Presto Labs, M11 Credit, Oasis Foundation & CMS.In the test, Franklin Templeton’s tokenized money fund, called BENJI, was used as the loan’s security. The security stayed the same during the loan, with automatic rules that helped manage the process. This way, the company could keep the profits from the loan while the lender had security, without moving the money around.
"Programmable assets require programmable credit," said Rico van der Veen, Co-Founder and CEO of SemiLiquid. "PCP delivers the missing rail that institutions need - a standardized, custody-native & shared legal framework that merges the trust of traditional finance with the efficiency of programmable assets. This marks a shift from incremental upgrades to foundational infrastructure for institutional credit. Abu Dhabi Global Market’s environment has enabled us to develop our solution within a risk-aware framework optimized for digital asset innovation. ”
"SemiLiquid’s PCP brings together important leaders to solve big problems in credit," said Anoosh Arevshatian, Chief Product Officer at Zodia Custody. "Zodia Custody is working to build a system that everyone can trust for digital credit."
“Programmable credit shows how lending can be safe, fast, and easy,” said Khalid Dannish, Head of MENA at Ava Labs. “Avalanche’s strong system, with SemiLiquid’s technology, makes it easier for more companies to join. This is happening in a place that’s leading the way in digital finance.”
“Private credit is becoming digital, and this test shows how it can be done safely and legally,” said Matthew Nyman, Digital Assets Lead at CMS. “CMS is proud to help make this new way of digital credit possible for big companies.”
Even though tokenized money is expected to reach $10 trillion by 2030, the systems for credit have stayed old and slow. More than 70% of big companies still use paperwork and move money around to get loans, which takes time and can cause problems. This stops digital assets from being used as good, safe loan security.
The test showed that the technology and rules are ready, and big companies are ready to use them. SemiLiquid is moving to the next phase, which will start in early 2026. This next phase will add more places, types of security, and other companies. Future plans also include giving loans with less security, backed by trusted checks, and making sure the rules work for everyone.
"Credit is the lifeblood of capital markets," added Rico van der Veen, Co-Founder and CEO of SemiLiquid. "With PCP, programmable credit has arrived - and it's ready for institutional deployment."
